Half Pint Brawlers" feel so ripped off by Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan
By THE Wrestling Times - TMZ.com is reporting the following:

"The guys from "Half Pint Brawlers" feel so ripped off by Hulk Hogan's new "midget wrestling" show on TruTV, they're talkin' lawsuit.

HPB's founder Puppet the Psycho Dwarf tells TMZ ... Hulk's new show, "Micro Championship Wrestling," is straight up stealing.

"Half Pint Brawlers" on Spike TV followed a group of midget wrestlers trying to create a specialty brand ... which is exactly what Hulk is doing on TruTV.

The reality star goes on to say, "There were a lot of situations that appeared to be copied from what we already did. There were also statements made by members that are almost the exact words out of my mouth."

-- Batista said he has "no plans of going back to wrestling or wrestling for any other promotion."

-- Apparently addressing WWE's recent release of Melina, who Batista previously had a relationship with, Batista said, "I have no idea why WWE released their hottest Diva."

TNA News: Quarter-hour ratings for Thursday's Impact Wrestling - how did Flair-Sting perform?

 Quarter-hour ratings
By THE Wrestling Times -  TNA Impact Wrestling last Thursday, September 20 officially scored a 1.20 rating off a first hour 1.20 and second hour 1.20.

The main event Sting vs. Ric Flair match scored a 1.30 rating in the eighth quarter-hour, which was slightly above the third quarter-hour for the highest-rated segment of the show.

The 1.30 rating for Flair-Sting ranks #9 for highest eighth quarter-hour rating of the year through the first 37 weeks. It was the highest Q8 rating since July when TNA had a series of Q8 ratings in the 1.32-1.36 range.

First Hour Break Down

Q1: Impact opened with a 1.10 rating for the show-opening talking segment between Sting and Flair, then one full commercial break, and Jeff Hardy's first backstage appearance. This was the lowest-rated quarter-hour of the show. (down 7.3% vs. 2011 average)

Q2: Impact jumped to a 1.27 rating for the eight-person tag match involving the Knockouts, a backstage segment involving the Knockouts, a commercial break, another Knockouts segment, and the first-half of Fortune's in-ring promo. (up 8.9% vs. 2011 average)

Q3: Impact increased slightly to a first-hour-high 1.28 rating that nearly topped Flair-Sting for the second-half of Fortune's in-ring promo with Kurt Angle, a full commercial break, and Eric Bischoff backstage. (up 9.0% vs. 2011 average)

Q4: Impact dropped to a 1.16 rating for Angelina Love vs. Velvet Sky, Jeff Hardy backstage, and two full commercial breaks, which dragged down the segment. It was still above the 2011 average in TNA's dead quarter-hour. (up 3.0% vs. 2011 average)

Second Hour Break Down

Q5: Impact scored the exact same 1.16 rating to start the second hour for the tail-end of the second commercial break in Q4, Hogan and Bischoff backstage, Taz and Tenay interviewing Crimson in a teleconference-type interview, and then Matt Morgan vs. Samoa Joe. (down 7.0% vs. 2011 average)

Q6: Impact dropped slightly to a second-hour-low 1.13 rating for more Jeff Hardy backstage segments, a full commercial break, and the first-half of Robert Roode vs. Kaz in the semi-main event.

Q7: Impact increased to a 1.21 rating for the second-half of Roode vs. Kaz, a full commercial break, Roode and Kaz backstage discussing the match, and ring introductions for the main event of Flair vs. Sting.

Q8: Impact increased to a show-high 1.30 rating for the first-half of Flair-Sting, a final commercial break, and the finish of Flair-Sting leading to a brief over-run.

INTERVIEW WITH FORMER TNA STAR KEVIN NASH. TALKS RUSSO, DIXIE, JARRETT AND MORE

KEVIN NASH
By THE Wrestling Times -  Former TNA Wrestler and current WWE star Kevin Nash was interviewed by Pro Wrestling Ohio Back in August of 2011 following his departure from TNA.

His favorite moments in TNA:

Quote
I bought a really sweet 05 mustang gt convertible. It was the first black with red interior in Florida. My favorite moments were after the show, dropping the top, grabbing a six pack of beer at the hess station, getting on I-4 and driving home. Those were my favorite moments of TNA. Ah and I enjoyed my match with Mick Foley.

The current state of the wrestling business and what he thinks should be done:
Quote
It's hard to watch. I tivo it most of the time. I think Kelly Kelly should have her own 2 hour show called slow motion kelly. I think that would do better ratings than anything else on TV.

Eric Bischoff
Quote
I think he is the only man that can honestly look himself in the mirror and say he beat Vince McMahon for two years. That speaks volumnes. I think Eric is very bright very talented and very resourceful

Dixie Carter
Quote
I think she is a sweet human being. I was amazed, in the time that i was there with her. I think she is very intelligent and so she is going to pick up the business and she has.

Jeff Jarrett.
Quote
Been my friend for years. If there was ever was an open seat in the kliq, Jeff was the alternate. the DH. Love him, good dude. Loves the business, enjoyes the business. Have alot of respect for him.

Alex Shelley:
Quote
oh. Well he is from Detroit so that's already a night on the town. One of the few guys that can make me laugh at loud at the stuff he would say. I enjoyed the papparzi. I think he is a great hand. I just think he is underutilized.

Kurt Angle.
Quote
Warrior. Should no longer be in the ring he is so beat up but continues to do moonsaults of cages. After you get hurt in the business you want to stop because you are afraid of getting hurt again. He gets hurt and he just doesnt care. He is like Drago. He is absolutely programmed to be a pro wrestler. He will probably die in the ring.

Vince Russo:
Quote
I think Vince (Russo) does a really good job of telling a story. I don't think Vince is strong wrestling-wise. Vince has to have somebody around him that knows X's and O's of wrestling. Alot of times he will make comments like "Well there's really not heels of babyfaces anymore in wrestling" and I'm like that's great that you feel that way but at the end of the night we have this thing called the finish. When we go into the finish somebody has to make a combeback and someone has to give the comeback. The guy that makes it is usually the babyface so the guy that gives it is pretty much the heel. While you would not like to think that there are no heels and babyfaces it kinda makes it pretty difficult to get to the finish without somebody giving and somebody taking.

Sting:
Quote
Great guy. Turned his life around. He's legit. One of the reasons why i really hung around TNA was because i really enjoyed being around Steve. We have been friends for over 20 years. He took me under his wing when i was brought in under that horrible Oz thing (In WCW).

TNA vs WWE:
Quote
I just don't think you can compete...If i were to take the terminology and remove it from pro wrestling and put it into porno; You're gonna want to watch Brianna Banks in a caribean setting more than you are going to want to watch Brianna banks at the Ramada Inn. TNA is filmed in the Ramada Inn. Its just as simple as that. There is no beauty shot. When you watch the two you know which one is the show and which one is it. Being in a studio hurts. I do think sometimes TNA is kind of entertaining and sometimes its not. I kind of like the Sting thing personally. Looks like Steve is having fun. We're the same age and so if he is having fun then GOD bless him.

WWE RAW TV REPORT 9/19

WWE Raw
By THE Wrestling Times -  WWE Raw TV taping report
September 19, 2011
Cleveland, Ohio

-- We got to our seats at the finish of the Alex Riley vs. Primo match for Superstars. The crowd was anxious for Raw and was dead during the Superstars taping. Lots of dueling "Lets Go Cena / Cena Sucks" chants. Seemed like the pro-Cena crowd had a slight edge.

-- There was a huge pop for C.M. Punk's entrance at the beginning of the show. But, his reaction turned mixed once he settled in to start his promo. Triple H's entrance also received a big pop. However, he maintained his positive crowd reception throughout the segment. Decent heat for Johnny Ace.

-- The crowd was pretty much into Sheamus and Air Boom. There was a lone Gabriel fan in my section who was very young. Christian's music got a mixed reaction, but he turned it into total heat when he ran from Sheamus.

-- Ricardo Rodrigez had a mixed reaction when he was introduced. Mostly heat for Del Rio, though. John Morrison got the kids to pop. However, I think most of the adults knew a squash not in Morrison's favor was on its way.

-- The Sin Cara segment was a total disappointment to me and the crowd was lost. There were ooohs and ahhhs for some of the flashy lucha sequences, but it was mostly dead.

-- The crowd was actually kind of hot for Hugh Jackman. Deafening heat for Vickie, as usual. Dolph did good to draw his own heat here too (for once). I didnt have high hopes for the segment, but I ate my words when the Ryder chant broke out and he became subsequently involved later on. Speaking of which, Ryder had an all right reaction during his entrance, but the crowd settled during the match until the finish.

-- Mark Henry seemed to have a mixed reaction during his entrance. He did a good job turning any cheers into heat when he attacked J.R. and Lawler, though.

-- The crowd was hot for Miz. His pre-taped arrival got a big pop and his entrance generated a babyface-like ovation. He had a great moment on the stage before Truth came out. Not sure if TV captured this, but while Truth was rapping in the ring, Miz was hugging some people at ringside.

During the break before the main event, Miz and Truth cut a promo starting with Truth heeling on Cleveland. Miz teased a babyface turn, which got good pops when he asked if Truth really just said his hometown sucked. Miz ended the tease by saying "If anyone is going to say Cleveland sucks, it's going to be me!" His positive reception turned mixed. He then got cheap heat by saying he left just like LeBron James. The crowd never forgave him for that one. They asked for total silence while the delivered their catchphrases. The crowd would not let them. After several attempts, Miz finally reminded the crowd that since they had microphones, they could be louder than the crowd and they delivered the catchprases.

-- C.M. Punk's entrance generated another strong reaction and he was totally over with the live crowd for the match as opposed to earlier. Mixed reaction as always for Cena. Miz and Truth maintained their heat from the promo. The crowd really got into this match and popped big for the hot tag to Punk and subsequent GTS to finish the main event.

McMahon News: Linda McMahon makes 2012 Senate run official Tuesday morning, how did she refer to WWE?

Linda McMahon  2012 Connecticut Senate
By THE Wrestling Times -  Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon made her 2012 Connecticut Senate campaign official on Tuesday morning during a speech at Coil Pro Machinery in Southington, Conn.

McMahon chose the location of her official Senate announcement to stress her focus on job creation. That was a minor selling point during her 2010 run when McMahon claimed to have helped create WWE "from the ground up," providing thousands of jobs to Connecticut residents.

During her speech Tuesday, McMahon did not reference the letters "WWE," but referred to the company, her husband, WWE CEO Vince McMahon, and her family.

"For the past 25 years or so, my husband Vince and I have had plenty of success in our business. And we appreciate it all the more when we think back to the day we had to file for bankruptcy...or think back to the years it took to pay back our medical bills because we had no health insurance," McMahon said mid-way through her speech, focusing on job creation.

Near the end of her speech, McMahon said, "So whatever you make of my story, here's what I've got to show for it: a 45-year marriage to my high school sweetheart. Two wonderful children and six grandchildren. A business that employs hundreds and trades on the New York Stock Exchange. It's more success than I ever counted on. And best of all, it's given me a chance to think about the success of others, as a candidate for public office."

Related to job creation, McMahon said she will "offer a comprehensive jobs plan" in the coming weeks to outline what she would do as Senator if elected.

Although not mentioned during the speech, McMahon is changing her approach to financing the campaign. After spending over $50 million to establish her name in the state of Connecticut, McMahon will be using equity built up in the 2010 investment to keep herself relevant to voters, while also looking to private campaign donors to help fund the day-to-day operation of a new campaign.

The official announcement on Tuesdays means another 13 months of Quinnipiac University polls, questions about McMahon's record as COO, and perhaps another WWE campaign when the heat on McMahon's WWE past intensifies. (Remember "Stand Up For WWE?")

-- Already announced for Hell in a Cell is World Hvt. champion Mark Henry vs. Randy Orton in a HIAC match. WWE will have fall-out from Orton dropping the title and more hype for the title match.

-- Last week, Edge was advertised for an appearance at the taping, but his name has been pulled from the Nutter Center's website as scheduled to appear. Edge is making his final appearance on this Friday's episode of "Haven" on Syfy following Smackdown, which would have provided another promotional tie-in.

-- Also in-play is an advertised appearance by on-air COO Triple H. The Nutter Center is advertising, "For the first time ever in Dayton, see WWE's COO Triple H!"

-- WWE will be taping Week 29 of the current NXT: Redemption season to air Tuesday night on WWE's website. There is no end in sight as the current season of NXT continues to resemble a weekly, episodic TV wrestling show than a competition between NXT "Rookies," who are now regularly part of Raw and Smackdown in background/enhancement roles.

-- The advertised main event for the live crowd in Dayton is World Hvt. champion Henry vs. Orton.

Hogan News: TMZ - rival promotion threatening lawsuit against Hogan's MCW show

Hogan's Micro Championship Wrestling
By THE Wrestling Times -  TMZ is reporting the cast of "Half Pint Brawlers" is threatening a lawsuit against "Hulk Hogan's Micro Championship Wrestling," claiming Hogan's new show is ripping off their midget wrestling show that aired in 2010.

Half Pint character Puppet the Psycho Dwarf told TMZ they believe Hogan's show, which debuted last Wednesday on TruTV, is stealing their concept of following midget wrestlers as they try to create their own niche promotion.

"There were a lot of situations that appeared to be copied from what we already did. There were also statements made by members that are almost the exact words out of my mouth," Puppet said.

Coincidentally, Half Pint aired on Spike TV last year and Hogan is part of TNA Impact Wrestling, which airs on Spike. There was no comment from Hogan on the story.

WWE News: WWE announces "releases" of The Miz and R-Truth following Raw

releases
By THE Wrestling Times -  Following Monday's Raw, WWE announced the "releases" of The Miz and R-Truth, who were "fired" by on-air authority figure Triple H at the end of Raw to add another layer to WWE's top storyline.

The announcement was made the same way WWE would announce a standard contract release, which is similar to what WWE did when Kevin Nash was "released" after Hunter "fired" him on TV.

WWE announced, "WWE has come to terms on the release of The Miz and R-Truth as of today, Sept. 19, 2011. WWE wishes Miz and R-Truth the best in all of their future endeavors."

WWE News: Raw results - Triple H announces his next "firings" as on-air COO

wwe raw
By THE Wrestling Times -  The next wrestlers to be "fired" by WWE COO Triple H are The Miz and R-Truth as part of the latest storyline developments in WWE.

Hunter, who already "fired" Kevin Nash this summer, announced Miz and Truth's fate at the end of Monday's Raw. Miz and Truth then tried to jump Hunter from behind in the backstage area, but Hunter had them kicked out of the building.

Earlier in the night, Miz and Truth were "fined" $250,000 each for physically abusing referees at the Night of Champions PPV. Miz and Truth showed remorse and apologized, which allowed them to keep their jobs.

Miz and Truth then lost to WWE champion John Cena and C.M. Punk in the main event tag match, while showing they "turned over a new leaf" by not cheating during the match. Hunter proceeded to come out on-stage and congratulate Punk on the victory before telling Miz and Truth they're fired. (Although not focused on in the final build-up to Hunter-Punk at Night of Champions, the implication early in the build-up was that Punk could lose his job if he lost to Hunter at the PPV.)

The latest storyline development continues the power struggle between Triple H and John Laurinaitis, who tried to fire Punk in the opening segment before Punk laughed him off and Hunter reminded Laurinaitis he works for him.

Matt Hardy
"I finally made the decision - the very conscious decision - with the help of WWE, Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and Ann Russo that I'm going to rehab," Hardy said in a YouTube announcement Monday.

Hardy said he pushed his body beyond the limits he could handle in the wrestling business and "medicated myself to get through the days and it became too much of a problem."

"In the last month, I did all I could to clean myself up, but I ended up using something else to 'even things out,'" Hardy said.

Hardy said he plans to open up a wrestling school after completing the three-month rehab process. He closed his announcement saying, "I have made the voluntary decision to go to rehab and get myself together."
